More of a Beta Edition than the 2nd edition...

This is a weird combination of an overview/introduction to the technology and an organic chemistry text book for people in industry. It seems way too detailed in parts that would only matter if you owned a machine and were trying to select the best supplier for chemicals. To fully understand this book, you need a degree in organic chemistry, thorough understanding of lasers, and lots of patience.

If your teacher is assigning you to answer every question at the end of the chapters you should either run or be prepared to learn a lot on your own. Many of the questions can not be answered with material in the book and requires extensive research.

As I have read more of this book, I keep finding blatant errors. There are sentence fragments, typos, and many of the tables have glaring issues. Several tables give a date as a deposition rate, an error you could spot without knowing anything about engineering.

It's hard to tell if this book was sponsored by a manufacturer, but there is a lot of information promoting one machine over another.

The book is in fact very new and a great compilation of new 3D printing. The problem I had was the binding of this specific book has came off, and along with it pages have been slipping out over the past 3 weeks that I've owned this book. 3 weeks!!! I've thrown it into my bookbag and opened it for READING (duh), highlighting, etc, but I've never actually had pages fallen out of a book before. Not sure if this is the seller's or mnfg's fault.

A revolutionary presentation on the chiropractic approach to pediatric care!

This textbook is an outstanding review of the rapidly expanding field of chiropractic pediatrics. A large population of parents are disturbed and frustrated by the contemporary medical management of functional childhood health problems (ear infections, immune system weaknesses, antibiotic-overuse, colic and bowel infirmities, scoliosis treatments, and the common head and neck, low back and hip, arm and leg pains so common in children). This book presents the finest offerings from the leaders in the chiropractic profession regarding the science of the management of childhood illnesses. The book comprehensively covers how to insightfully take a child's health history in order to more deeply understand the complete picture of the child upon examination. Thorough discussions of the issues regarding pregnancy -- its history and the meaning of the disturbances if there were problems -- are described in detail. Pediatric neurology and orthopedics are provided in detail, with excellent photographs and illustrations throughout. Goldsmith, an executive coach to the corporate elite, pinpoints 20 bad habits that stifle already successful careers as well as personal goals like succeeding in marriage or as a parent. Most are common behavioral problems, such as speaking when angry, which even the author is prone to do when dealing with a teenage daughter's belly ring. Though Goldsmith deals with touchy-feely material more typical of a self-help book—such as learning to listen or letting go of the past—his approach to curing self-destructive behavior is much harder-edged. For instance, he does not suggest sensitivity training for those prone to voicing morale-deflating sarcasm. His advice is to stop doing it. To stimulate behavior change, he suggests imposing fines (e.g., $10 for each infraction), asserting that monetary penalties can yield results by lunchtime. While Goldsmith's advice applies to everyone, the highly successful audience he targets may be the least likely to seek out his book without a direct order from someone higher up. As he points out, they are apt to attribute their success to their bad behavior. Still, that may allow the less successful to gain ground by improving their people skills first. (Jan. 2)

"As a guy who has had some success in my life, I especially understood and appreciated what this book taught me. The point of the book is actually the title and subtitle. He states: "The problems we'll be looking at in this book are not life-threatening diseases (although ignored for too long they can destroy a career). They're not deep-seated neuroses that require years of therapy or tons of medication to erase. "More often than not, they are simple behavioral tics 'bad habits that we repeat dozens of times a day in the workplace' which can be cured by (a) pointing them out, (b) showing the havoc they cause among the people surrounding us, and (c) demonstrating that with a slight behavioral tweak we can achieve a much more appealing effect.

Misleading title; should be called "how to be less of a jerk"

I suppose it's my own fault for not researching this book more carefully. Based on the title, I thought it would be about how the habits or activities that lead to success in lower levels of a person's career might become less important or even limiting later on in their career, and how to deal with that. Like how a manager needs to act differently from an individual contributor, or how a middle manager needs to act differently from a line manager. That's not what this book is about. This book is about how talented people who are arrogant jerks can become nicer in order to progress in their careers. That's useful if it's what you're looking for, but it's not what I was hoping to find.

As a corollary, I also felt the author perceived the world with a "cop's fallacy". Police officers sometimes assume everyone in a certain neighborhood or of a certain demographic is scum, because they are only called in to deal with crime, so most people they deal with in that neighborhood or demographic are criminals. Much in the same way, Goldsmith seems to believe that all successful people are arrogant and overconfident, when the truth is more likely that successful people who are not hugely arrogant do not lead their employers to hire a consultant like Goldsmith to fix their behavioral issues, so he doesn't interact with them.

An embarrassingly hilarious read

I say it's embarrassingly hilarious, because when the lady beside you on the bus asks what's so funny, you're going to cringe at the thought of admitting to laughing tears of hysteria over poo poems. And that's what this book is all about, poetry by and about poop in it's various stages of being. Forget the turd jokes of our youth though, Doodies is poetry that could be passed off as coffee shop prose, delivered by a beret wearing, soul patch sporting speaker to a crowd of starry eyed expresso swillers who would never suspect it's true meaning. From poo that is yet to become poo such as in Dark Magick Mariah’s Struggle to the humor that comes when a child, in true Beavis fashion, announces the pastor just said Doody, to poems that are less about the actual coil and more about the doodie that is life, I cracked up from cover to cover. After I finished all I could say was, Dang Chaz, you really did chug the bottomless lake outta that booze! ;)

She has also uncovered their fictional counterparts in an impressive array of poems, plays, and novels.The book concludes with Braille, whose invention of writing with raised dots gave blind people around the world definitive access to silent reading and to written communication.
