This is a wonderful book that has an outstanding message. My little girl loved the artwork and story. It also gave me an opportunity to have a teachable moment with the moral of the story in this book.

Still love this series!

Woohoo!! Back on track with the story-line of the collectors and the council. This also opens up more of what is going on with the fey.

Misty is an awesome chick who owns her inner beast. I love her part in the rescue at the beginning. Hers is almost the sole POV of the book, I miss the mixed narrative. Don't get me wrong, she is a great voice for the story, but things are always richer when you have both leads POV. Samuel gets a few brief moments where we get his thoughts, but they are more teases than anything else.

The smexy time is hawt, seriously in a field standing up!! Good Lord! There are a couple scenes, making it nice and spicy. The details are great but no where near as abundant as other erotic reads. If you have been with the series from the beginning, you should be used to this by now.

I liked the overall plot and expect from the events at the end things are going to get a lot more interesting around the Crossroads. This really went more into what happens when a shifter from a collection goes back to his life. This is why I really wish we had more from Samuel in the narrative.

Still loving this series and all the unique shifters. Sure, many of the stories are similar, but they are always entertaining!

Misty and Samuel meet outside the Crossroads in a weird and unusual situation when her small shifter form rides his cougar form out of captivity and she leads him and other shifters to freedom and safety.

In true Crossroads style, they meet and fall in love quickly, after all everyone who enters the Crossroads is ready for love. I really liked these two, and their very different beast sides amused me. I also like that this story continued with a bit of action and intrigue after they returned mated to the normal world.

I definitely recommend this as another quick read in the Crossroads series. It has the same chemistry and quirky characters that I’ve come to expect from the series.

Great Read!!

I just love this series. The author has been building up to something big concerning the kidnapping of shifters and this book adds one more element and clue to the readers. The characters are great and I love the Sugar Glider, Misty. Samuel who is a Mountain Lion and also Misty's mate seems a bit clueless sometimes but I think he is what one may call a tech geek and so he stays pretty focused on his business and not much else, that is until he is kidnapped and rescued by his mate. I love that the two just click right away and Misty, who also works for the Shifter Council when needed is a bit bad a**. I also loved how the author described Wolverine shifter's behavior and personalities. The book is short but sweet.

The London travel "bible"

I have used this mapguide since 1990 -- it is my "bible" in London. Far more portable and much less overwhelming than "London A-Z," this mapguide contains everything a traveller in London will need. If I could only take one book to London, this would be the one.

An Attractive Map Guide With One Major Flaw

We were returning from Greenwich tired and footsore. The LONDON MAPGUIDE indicated we could transfer to another bus to Paddington right on Russell Square. When we alighted, there were no layover stops for the elusive Bus #7. After tromping for ages around Bloomsbury, we gave up and hiked back past the British Museum to Oxford Street, where we knew we could get a bus.
The flaw of this and all other map guides to London are the bus routes. The Underground is fun, but sometimes a bus is more convenient, and, as G. K. Chesterton wrote, the best way to see London is from the top of a double-decker bus.
Even London Transport's "Travelling in London" folder doesn't do justice to the bus system. Granted, it is diabolically difficult to keep up with route changes, but if someone were to undertake it and do a more thorough job, the result would be a truly useful map guide.
But don't let one complaint detract from the value of this otherwise outstanding guide. Because of the lack of bus information, most travellers take to the Underground and are quite satisfied with it. I still recommend THE LONDON MAPGUIDE and still would use it myself, if only for lack of anything better.

A comprehensive and easy-to-read pocket map guide to London

I have lived in London and visit there extensively. This pocket guide is the most comprehensive I have found. It is easy to read for a newcomer, but in-depth enough for a really experienced Londonphile. As only one example, the map delineates the location of the London Stone, sadly anonymous in modern times (and on any other map I have ever used), but historically significant. The guide includes locations of a host of destinations, including theatres, significant buildings, museums, etc, etc. My only complaint about the guide is the same for any map of the city; detail pages do not step far enough out of the core downtown areas. Overall, an excellent rating.

Great Book!

This is the second volume of case studies using Master Tung distal acupuncture. It's similar to the first volume but with all new case studies. So if you liked Vol 1. than get Vol 2. but if you don't have any than get both. Brad Whisnant does an amazing job with this book. As far as I know it's the only case study book on Tung acupuncture which is a huge asset to anyone looking to study the Tung distal system. Dr Whisnant is a success acupuncturist that has been using the Tung system for many years and in this book he presents case studies from his own practice and explains how and why he treats. This is extremely helpful and it often feels like your with him in the clinic as he explains how he treats. I love this book because originally I found the Tung system confusing and difficult to learn because the other books I looked at presented very little theory and explanation, but Dr Whisnant pulls back the curtain and makes it easy and accessible to understand. I also highly recommend his first book "Mastering Tung Acupuncture" which goes deep into the basics and theory of Tung/distal acupuncture.

Fantastic books

Doing 4 days of a Tung acupuncture course earlier this year, transformed my practice. Brad and Deborah's books take this to the next level, with understanding the theory and combining points. I am constantly referring to the books to deepen my knowledge and get inspiration. Used the abdominal pain protocol last week and with outstanding results after 2 treatments. Worth every penny, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Love the diagrams for point location.

About the Author

Robert Byron was born in England in 1905 into a family distantly related to Lord Byron. He attended Eton and Merton College, Oxford, and wrote several travel books before his untimely death in 1941, while serving as a correspondent for a London newspaper during World War II.

A classic of travel writing

Please look past the one-star review of the previous reviewer...check out other editions of the book and you'll get a truer picture. Byron was notoriously opinionated but that is what makes the book. If you have delicate sensibilities, you may want to skip this. Byron wasn't comprehensive so you are reading literature here, not a complete guidebook. His strengths were a love of architecture and hatred of hypocrisy.

This edition has the added bonus of a Preface by Rory Stewart, recent author of THE PLACES IN BETWEEN and THE PRINCE OF THE MARSHES, about Afghanistan and Iraq respectively.

My only quibble with this edition is with the photographs. They are printed on the same paper stock as the text. The publisher can do better than this with a classic.

Persia and Afghanistan When the Going Was Good

In the crepuscular post-September 11 world I find myself in, I thought I would go and read some of the classics of travel in the Middle East back when the going was good. Byron's OXIANA looked promising, so I curled up with it for a few enchanting days.
Byron was no lover of pre-packaged tourist sights. He begins by slurring Venice, where he begins his journey. Later, he slams the Taj Mahal and the Alhambra as examples of what he did NOT want to see in the Middle East. At first, I was not sure where the book was going: Byron comes across at first as one of those hypereducated upper class twits who pop in and out of Evelyn Waugh's novels. Fortunately, it turns out to be just one of the author's favorite personas he assumes from time to time.
Over half a century ago, he saw clearly what would happen to Palestine when the British pulled out, namely, that the Jews and Arabs would be at each other's throats. As he reaches Iran we finally begin to see what Byron is really after: He travels from one old mosque or ruin to another. Although none of places he describes in such loving detail are known to me, it was easy to see that here was a man who wanted to be one of the first to see some marvel of architecture and capture it in photographs and in prose before the forces of time would destroy it utterly.
In the process of going from place to place, he describes the Europeans and locals he meets with humor and shrewdness. The Middle East was not the easiest place to travel in the 1930s, and Byron ran into some almost insurmountable obstacles which he typically surmounts. One such is his arrival in Aghanistan's high country too late in the season. He backtracks to Persia and waits six months until he could return in the spring.
I highly recommend ROAD TO OXIANA to all who wish the world was safe and innocent enough for us to pursue our own Oxianas, wherever they may be.

Byron's Less-Travelled Road

I first read Byron's best travel book in 1982 whilst in the midst of an epic year long trip myself. I now have about 4 copies of the book and an original signed copy with Byron's pictures in it(which are equally brilliant as his prose).His book kindled in me a desire to see all that he had seen and to further explore Islamic architecture and archaeology. After numerous forays into the Near East and a Masters in Near Eastern and Middle Eastern cultures--I am still searching. One can't really appreciate Byron's description of the Sheikh Lutfallah Mosque in Isfahan unless you actually have been there--standing under the immense dome in subdued yellow light. I had that priviledge last year and Byron's description does justice to the magnificent structure. Byron's eye for detail is unmatched in most other travel books and his humour is endless. I had the luck to find "Four Loyalties" by his travelling companion--Christopher Sykes in a book sale in Dubai, UAE. Sykes paints a wonderful portrait of Byron. It's a pity that Byron died so young as I think he is one of the better travel writers--definitely my favourite. Unfortunately, as Bruce Chatwin pointed out in one introduction to "The Road to Oxiana" that you won't be able to drink green tea and eat mulberries under the shade of a plane tree in Istalif, Afghanistan. Those halcyon days that Byron and Sykes experienced and later by Levi and Chatwin are the stuff of legends. "The Road to Oxiana" is a good starting point. Go there now. Good reading.

A thought provoking book

Unlike other reviewers I found this to be a very interesting book and it appears that some of these reviewers were more interested in debunking Arthur Koestler by labelling him anti-semitic. He was himself of Ashkenazi Jewish descent and proud of it. His book quotes many sources and his thesis should not be dismissed out of hand. In itself it is of historical interest to learn of the Khazar empire that ruled for several hundred years and who were a power equal to the Byzantine empire and one that stopped the Muslim onslaught against Byzantium. I can strongly encourage others to read this book and make up their own mind.

Interesting Read

I also found this book to be quite informative and can understand that it may touch off a few issues. The interesting thing is that people would rather debunk something because of a belief system than actually READ and take to heart what the book has to reveal. It is well referenced and gives us much information concerning the issues we are facing today, how it is and will affect the world.

Historically, the information is all out there, published in various places. Arthur Koestler simply brought it all together and put it into comprehensive form. If this is why he is attacked, then it's a sad statement to the conditions we are living in today.

History without the PC gloss

An excellent history of the Kazars, detailing the extraordinary power of this kingdom and its many influences. Having adopted Judaism in the 7th century the Kazars represent the true origins of the Ashkenazi Jews - a fact that many people will wish to suppress but which is powerfully proven by Koestler, himself an Ashkenazi Jew. The break up of the Kazar kingdom and the resulting waves of migration are explored in detail. A robustly researched and well documented history of a people whose origins are crucial to modern history.

Very useful and helpful books!

“The Self Improvement Book: A Guide Book for Success and Personal Development” is an amazing collection of four highly useful books. Through these books, you will learn how to live a happier, more productive life, and will find yourself achieving more than you ever thought was possible. All four books are very well written and laid out, and are all strong contenders for the “best of the best” in self-improvement books. “Productivity Masterclass,” in particular, helped me to developer stronger productivity skills so that I found myself working fewer hours but accomplishing more during those hours. Can Akdeniz and Jonas Stark are fantastic writers, and great minds, to boot. Highly recommend this collection of books!

The ultimate step-by-step guide on reaching your potential!

The Self Improvement Book offers solid advice on being successful. The topics includes healthy habits, solving problems, time-management, productivity and more! It includes four books in one:

“The Nine Routines of Successful People: A Guidebook for Personal Change” – Routines anyone can implement to immediately improve their life.

“Problem Solver: An Amazing Way to Deal with Problems and Personal Challenges” – A guide to improve your ability to solve problems.

“Surpass the Average: Learn the Seven Traits of High Achievers” – How-to guide that helps you master the traits of a high achiever.

“Productivity Masterclass: Learning to Work Smarter and Faster” – How to change non-productive behaviors and efficiently accomplish goals.

This is the ultimate step-by-step guide on reaching your potential. My weak areas are problem solving and using my time productively. After reading this, I feel confident that I'll be able to easily implement and follow the instructions. This is undoubtedly one of the best books I've read all year!

Loved it!

I received an advance copy of the Self Improvement Book: A Guide Book for Success from the publisher and just finished reading it. The book was easy to read and I couldn’t put it down. I felt like the autor was talking directly to me and I could relate to the stories that were told. After reading The Self Improvement Book: A Guide Book for Success , I now realize that I am the only person that can decide the extent of my own success in endeavors and jobs. I had been letting other people dictate my mood and then was bitter towards them for doing this. I now see that in order to live my best life I need to go where I’m celebrated, as the book says. It has only been a few days since taking this new approach but, not only am I happier because of it, I have noticed the people around me are responding to my positive attitude- an added bonus! I highly recommend this book to everyone. Can Akdeniz cuts right to the chase and tells it like it is.
